Baked Chicken Wings with Honey and Sriracha

I don’t think there is any food my husband enjoys more than chicken wings. Being married to a dietitian doesn’t exactly allow him to enjoy them as often as he would like. I figured with it being game day it was a good opportunity to put a (somewhat) healthy spin on his favorite meal.

These baked chicken wings are so addictive. They taste exactly like the fried ones but with way less grease. I made the sauce using honey, sriracha and fresh lime juice and the sweet and spicy combination will have you pouring it over everything.

This meal cost me $16.75 and took me 40 minutes to prepare.

1. Preheat oven to 400. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper and coat with cooking spray (or use a silpat if you have one).
2. Toss chicken wings with butter, olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic powder in a large bowl. Place on baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 30 minutes.

3. Meanwhile, make your sauce: melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and whisk for 1 minute. Add honey, sriracha, soy sauce and lime juice and stir to combine. Set aside.

4. Brush wings with sauce and turn oven to broil. Cook for 5-7 minutes longer, or until desired crispiness. Brush with sauce one more time.

5. Garnish with cilantro and sesame seeds (if desired) and serve.
