A Treat for your Pooch

After leaving my sweet pup, Colby, for 5 days during our trip to Denver, I figured he deserved a little treat. I’ve always been curious about making homemade dog treats and I’m so happy I did! These treats are lightly sweetened with honey and pack a good amount of protein thanks to the peanut butter and reduced-sodium bacon. They also contain shredded carrot and oats for added vitamins and fiber.

These are a great stocking stuffer or gift for your favorite fur ball!

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a large bowl, combine peanut butter, carrot, honey, bacon, water and egg.

3. Add oats and flour and stir to combine.

At this point, I felt a little nudge at my feet…oh hey Colb!

4. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Use cookie cutters to make shapes and place each onto a baking sheet.

5. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
6. Cool to room temperature and store in an airtight container.

I think we’ve got one satisfied customer!
