Biography
I graduated from Michigan State University in 2007 with a bachelors degree in dietetics and health promotion. In December 2010, I pursued my lifelong dream of becoming a chef by studying culinary arts at Kendall College in downtown Chicago.
After graduation in 2012, I worked as the head chef of a vegetarian catering company. There, I was able to develop hundreds of healthy recipes based on seasonal fruits and vegetables. From there, I took a job at Hy-Vee, a midwest grocery store chain, as their head chef and dietitian. Through this job I was able to share my dietitian and culinary expertise through nutrition counseling, cooking classes, and community events.
Since moving back to West Michigan, I provided private chef services and shared my love of cooking throughout the lakeshore. I’m currently working as a research and development chef for Meijer. When I’m not working, I enjoy blogging new recipes, staying active, cheering on the MSU Spartans, traveling with my husband and playing with our dogs Colby Jack, Wally and Sunny.
"Chef Jen’s cooking is top notch. She goes to great lengths to get the freshest ingredients, from meat to seafood to produce, and prepares them perfectly. Just as important as her service, Jen is great to work with – friendly, open-minded and completely accommodating of her client’s preferences. The time she spent getting to know our likes and dislikes resulted in the perfect meal."
